Randy : Are you shutting off the petcock every time you park the bike ? If not you are expecting the tiny rubber tip of the float needle to hold all the gas in the tank from leaking through the carb. If a speck of rust or crud gets between the needle & seat your engine floods. You did say you dried of the plug & it started right? Make turning the petcock on before the key & off after the key
